#Give2Veterans: How A Single Retweet Can Help A Veteran

Guest Blog Post by Bob Woodruff Foundation

Hey, the goal of the Bob Woodruff Foundation (BWF), if you're not familiar with us, is to create long-lasting, positive outcomes for post-9/11 impacted veterans, service members and their families. We've joined forces with the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation to raise funds to support veterans through their #Give2Veterans campaign, which runs until September 30th.

bwfFor each social post or follow on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram that includes the hashtag #Give2Veterans and the handles @CohenGive or @Stand4Heroes, the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation will donate $1 to BWF, with a maximum donation of $500,000. We're in the final push, so please share and participate as you're able.

"The funds raised through #Give2Veterans will help BWF continue to provide grantees essential resources for post-9/11 veterans,” said Anne Marie Dougherty, Executive Director of the Bob Woodruff Foundation. “The most innovative and exciting part is that this campaign is simple to support; just by tweeting or posting, people will be making a major impact. We’re grateful for the continued support of the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation, and encourage everyone to participate in this life-changing and life-affirming campaign.”

To further raise awareness of and funds for #Give2Veterans, Marine Corporal Kionte Storey, an amputee who served in Afghanistan, climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro from Aug. 20-26. Storey lost his lower right leg as a result of an improvised explosive device in 2010. His continued strength and achievement, in spite of physical limitations, is representative of what veterans can accomplish when properly supported. Jake Rath, from the Cohen Foundation, accompanied Storey to demonstrate the power of working together to bridge the military/civilian divide.

“Men and women like Kionte embody why we need to continue doing more and more for our heroes,” said Alexandra Cohen, president of the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation.
