craig newmark philanthropies supports public charities in good standing described under Sections 501(c)(3) and 509(a)(1) or (2) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended, that further our priorities.

If your nonprofit's project fits within our priorities and you are still interested in applying for a grant, please fill out the PDF form linked below, and upload the completed form with requested supporting materials.

If your organization supports military families or vets, please look here.

  3. Fill out submission web form below and attach filled out Information Request and Checklist Form
  4. Also attach any additional requested supporting materials listed below.
  5. Submit form

Requested supporting materials:

  1. Filled out and signed PDF form -> Information Request and Checklist Form
  2. An IRS determination letter or other qualified proof of public charity status for Potential Grantee (e.g., determination letter pursuant to I.R.C. Sections 501(c)(3) and 509(a)(1) or 509(a)(2))
  3. Proof of active status with the IRS for Potential Grantee (e.g., screen shot of irs.gov confirmation of public charity status)
  4. Proof of active status with the applicable Secretary of State for Potential Grantee (e.g., screen shot of Secretary of State website showing active status or a certificate of good standing).
  5. If applicable, a fiscal sponsorship agreement that applies to the project.
